At High Lane School we aim to:

  • To create a happy, stimulating environment, where relationships excellence and enjoyment are celebrated.
  • To prepare children for the society in which they will live.
  • To enable children to be confident and achieve their full potential within a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • To develop a sense of awareness, understanding and caring for others through equal opportunities, multi-cultural, religious and moral education.
  • To provide experiences and opportunities which will develop lively, enquiring minds and the children's ability to investigate, analyse, pose questions, solve problems, communicate, co-operate and make decisions.
  • To encourage children to take pride in their work, accept responsibilities and strive towards  excellence through self-assurance and evaluation.
  • To plan realistically and use the school's resources efficiently to ensure good value for money from the available funds.
  • promote good relationships with parents and encourage them to share with us their child's  educational development.  We believe that education is a partnership between teachers and  parents and high standards can only be maintained with their help and co-operation.

Personal, Social, Health Education and Citizenship

In our school we put Personal, Social and Health Education and Citizenship at the heart of all we do.  As well as being an integral part of our 'taught' curriculum, at all times we encourage children to work with each other throughout the school.  Sometimes, this is through partnership activities linked to specific themes such as Friendship, Caring for others , Anti-bullying and so on, as well as our regular charitable fund-raising activities often organised by the children themselves. All children are given an equal voice through their class school council representative which helps to make decisions about the day to day running of the school.
